The City
Grimaud has two identities. The charming old town built on a hillside boasts narrow streets, old squares, delightful cafés, lively restaurants and many boutiques. From the Romanesque church to the ruins of the feudal chateau, Grimaud bears clear evidence of its medieval past. The seaside city of Port Grimaud has some twelve kilometres of quays lined with gardens and fisherman’s houses. Here, people tie up their boats in front of their houses and, from then on, the pedestrian is king. In Grimaud, you simply leave the centre and stroll peacefully through the adjacent streets to discover another world. Children, darting out as if from another age, run and play in the safe environment of narrow, steep streets, free of noise and cars. Visiting the town on foot, one can sense the authentic, very Provencal joie de vivre distilled in this place like no other.
