Next  fleche The district

Here, you’re at the centre of the city. To get down to Port Vauban, take Rue de la République until you reach the Place Nationale, then make a detour via Musée Peynet to salute the famous artist and illustrator Raymond Peynet, best known for his cartoons of “The Lovers”. Carry on until you get to Cours Masséna, then fill your baskets with herbs, fruits and the freshest fish you’ll ever see, brought in by bragging fishermen.

Right in the heart of the city

Savour a slice of pissaladière (onion quiche) from a stall at the most famous market in Provence, then, uplifted, set the world straight in a café on Rue Aubernon.
Once finished, you’ll realize it’s now too late to stroll along the Quai des Milliardaires to gaze at the most luxurious yachts in the world, stopping at Boulevard Aguillon, across from “Bains Douches”, one-time blockhouses now converted into art galleries. Take some refreshment and opt for a tour of the ramparts that encircle the city, thanking Vauban for such a beautiful creation. It’s now 6 in the evening already, time for a seas-side cocktail. After all, you’ve earned it.

Good to know :
- It was at 21 Cours Masséna that the marshal of Napoleon I lived. He had a soap and oil business there before embarking on his military career.
